What makes our toys "eco-friendly"?

Our toys have many elements which would categorize them as eco-friendly. Some of these factors include:
  • toys made from recycled wood
  • toys made from wood that is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified
  • paints and finishes which are non-toxic and lead-free
  • made from natural products (ie beeswax)
  • toys made with organic fabrics

What can you tell me about wooden toys?

We love wooden toys! There is really something to be said about the feel and texture of wooden toys. They exude a warmth and charm which appeal to both parents and children alike. Finely-crafted wooden toys are durable which make them intrinsically eco-friendly. Because the toys last and can withstand years of play, they can easily be passed down from generation to generation. Since wooden toys do not come with all the "high-tech" bells and whistles of lights, and electronic beeps, they are great for inspiring imaginative play and creative thinking. Finally, some schools of thought believe that introducing elements of nature into your children's play can help to develop them wholly, mind, soul and spirit.

What does "FSC certified" mean?

The FSC is an independent, non-profit organization and runs arguably the leading forest certification program. A toy made from FSC-certified wood means that the forests were harvested in a sustainable manner. They also require forests which are certified to meet stringent requirements. For more detailed information on the FSC and its certification program, you can go to their website, www.fsc.org.
